Aging, Health and Human Rights


human-rightsThe Aging, Health, and Human Rights Initiative represent a collection of research, evaluation and action projects that promote access to health, services and justice for all individuals, families, and communities across the developmental life cycle. Research, evaluation, and action projects are within this division are guided by a human rights framework and the United Nations World Health Organization’s more holistic definition of health: “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” The current priority areas are the international aging in prison crisis, the social determinants of health and well-being, and cumulative trauma and its root causes and consequences. Project team members are available for consultation, training, local, national and international presentations and workshops.
